Reflecting back to my task which is about researching something old or new relating to NZ culture. I want to briefly think about my experience on this task. I decided to choose the Moa bird as a part of my topic and the reason i chose this bird was because its NZ symbol after the kiwi and I was curious to know more about this giant bird. First of all I went to the museum to find out some information about my task. My visit to the museum helped me a lot to complete this task in a flexible way. In the end I had my evidence and the idea about my research.
I felt it was good to analyse a different culture from your own. When I got to the museum I knew what I was going to research because I looked on the internet on my topic the day before. But perhaps when I got there I saw loads of exhibition which attracted me from that moment I started to think about some other customs which was really amazing . However as I researched my topic, i wasn't really distracted even thought I was attracted to other things. I concentrate my topic and what the guide tour was saying. We were a group of student and our teacher and everyone of us were researching different subjects. Asking my classmates about their topic, I learnt a lot of things from NZ culture which I never heard. Looking back on it, I think that it was a bit challenging.
Even thought I enjoyed my time at the museum on the other hand I had this kind of negative feelings about the guide tour when she spent most of her time showing us the idol which Maori people called their gods I don’t meant to offend anyone but I felt that this was really nonsense for me because I don’t enjoy listening these stuff. My ideal of going to the museum was to see both sides rather than only Maori costumes.
The interview I planned to have with the tour guide wasn’t successful because I had a feeling that she was either wasn’t happy to record her voice or hurrying to somewhere. At the end of the tour I asked her for more information about the Moa bird. Her answer was I don’t know more about this bird but what I know about is that it lay eggs have different types and so on. Overall, I’m very happy with the work that I did on this task and I really appreciated my visit to the museum. From now moa isn’t something that new to me where ever I heard from.
Next time if I did this, I would feel more relaxed and I will not struggle because I know the instruction I also know how to reflect my experience.
My task was to go out and get some information relating to this topic so my classmates and i went to the museum to have a look . It was a good choice that we made and our trip to the museum almost helped me to complete this task. Here is a photo of us.
This is the female Moa i was really surprised after seen this because to my knowledge I would never believe birds reach this high if I haven't seen this.
This the skeleton of the male Moa which is really small compare to the female.
There was alot of information on the moa at the Musuem also the tour guide showed us different kind of Moa.The Moa's eggs were really small despite their size. These are the pictures i took .
My video presentation about Moa.

Hi Iman,
ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed looking at your research about the moa. I particularly liked reading your reflective blog post which I think you’ve put a lot of thought into. It’s a shame that you weren’t able to record a conversation with tour guide about the moa. I wonder if there is anyone who you could talk to and get some information about this bird?
Here are some corrections:
