My task 3 was
to research different religion from my own.
Although I have my own believes I thought it was good to experiment what
others believes in.
I talked to
Leo about his set of believes he is amongst my neighbours and kinda funny even allowed me to record his voice. Leo told me
that he was catholic but he didn’t practiced anymore and decided to change his
born religion to Atheist. It was the first time for me to talk to kiwis about
what they believe in.
Doing research
about different religion wasn’t that easy, regarding my knowledge and the limit
of my language. My first thought was to interview someone who believes in god
unfortunately it didn’t happened the way I expected. After all I assumed that I
could go and talk to my neighbours. Obviously I made lots of efforts
relating this task .I visited differ
links and read articles finally seemed I got the one
I was looking for .
Talking to
someone who have differ opinion about the existence of the world and other
religion as well, was odd to me. Afterwards I felt it was difficult to get the
information because Atheist don’t have religious books and even celebrations .Although
it was strange to me at first but this task
inspired me to get to know other religions. Also the guy I talked to was using lots of word that are new to me so in that way it was advantage.
The silly mistakes that I made during my
conversation with Leo cracked me up; it makes me wonder how I did it. I was
good at pronouncing the plural forms but while on the recording turned up to forget I
wonder. Hope this won’t put my task down.
Here is a conversation that i had with Leo, we talked about some of the thing atheist believes in.

This is a brief note about my experience on task 3
To be honest if I had another chance to do research about
religion, I would definitely feel more confidence than I was before. Also I know how to research and questions to ask. As I mention on my video religions are one of my favourite subjects feel privilege to
do this task. There were lots of religions that I didn’t have any idea about but now
the level of my knowledge about other religions is about 50% were it was 20% before.
During my video there
were a lot of mistake that I made in my English I felt
annoying if I record over and over every
time when I make a mistake. But what I think was that you learn things by making
mistakes so I know all my mistakes now and even corrected them!!!!!!!!!!!. As I
don’t wanna make the same mistake Obviously I convince every task I made that my speaking is improve
for example my first task I was so worried about what im gonna say next ....Now i feel quite fluent...................
Hi Iman, I have really enjoyed looking at task 3- you have made a good effort with it! I’m glad to hear it was your favourite task so far- religion is certainly an interesting topic. You did well in your interview with Leo. As you say, he used some quite difficult vocabulary- it might be useful for you to put some of these words on your vocabulary document. Let me know if you need any help with spelling etc
ReplyDeleteHere are some corrections:
“He didn’t practice anymore”
“It was the first time for me to talk to kiwis about what they believe in”
“set of beliefs” (good to see you using collocations we have learnt!)
“religious books”
(2nd conditional) If I had another chance to do research about religion, I would definitely feel more confident”
“have an idea about something”- “there were lots of religions that I didn’t have any idea about”
“I feel quite fluent”
I agree that you are much more confident and fluent in your video presentation.
Well done, Iman!
